New Delhi. The lock screen of the phone is for security, but if you come to know that anyone can easily access your phone by breaking the screen lock, then how will your reaction? Yes, such a shocking report has come out. Cybersecurity researcher David Schutz has found a way to bypass the lock screen on his fully patched Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 5 smartphones, allowing anyone to access the device to unlock it.
You will be surprised to know that bypassing the lock screen on Android phone i.e. breaking and taking advantage of the flaw is a simple 5 step process which does not take more than a few minutes.
Schutz says he discovered the flaw when he entered the wrong PIN three times when his Pixel 6 ran out of battery, and then recovered the locked SIM card using the PUK (personal unblocking key) code.
It is further reported that after unlocking the SIM and selecting a new PIN, the device did not ask for the lock screen password but just a fingerprint scan.
For Schutz Security Android devices always request lock screen password or pattern upon reboot, so going straight to fingerprint unlock was not common.
The researchers continued to experiment, and when they tried to start the device without rebooting and in unlocked condition, they realized that it was also possible to bypass the fingerprint prompt, and go straight to the home screen.

Google fixed the security issue on the latest Android update it released last week, but it’s been available for at least six months.
It is reported that the impact of this security flaw is significant, and it affects all devices running Android versions 10, 11, 12 and 13 that have not been updated to the November 2022 patch level.
