The New York Times has told in a report quoting sources that the company may start layoffs from this week itself. According to the report, the layoffs will mainly be done in the devices unit of the company making products like Alexa and its retail unit and HR team.

However, it has also been said in the report that the number of layoffs may increase as well as decrease. According to media reports, according to the data till 31 December 2021, a total of 16 lakh employees work in Amazon company including full time and part time. Recently the company had said that it is stopping new hiring in the company for the next few months. A few days ago, the Amazon company had expressed apprehension that this time its growth in the holiday season may be less than every year.
