New Delhi. Jeff Bezos, one of the world’s biggest tycoons and founder of Amazon, has made a big announcement. Bezos plans to donate most of his $124 billion net worth to charity. He wants to dedicate a major part of his earnings to fighting climate change.

Partner Lauren Sanchez is also helping
He said that this step will give support to those who are trying to unite humanity despite deep social and political divisions. Bezos told CNN that his partner Lauren Sanchez is also helping him in this work.

However, Bezos declined to give specific percentages or share details on where it would be spent. When directly asked by the publication whether he intends to donate most of his wealth within his lifetime, he said, “Yes”.

This is the first time Jeff Bezos has admitted that he plans to give away most of his money. The announcement comes three weeks after he accepted an award for his Philanthropy Work at the Vatican.

Criticized for not signing The Giving Pledge
Over the past 10 years, the Amazon founder has pledged $10 billion to the Bezos Earth Fund, which works on fighting climate change. However, Bezos has often been criticized for not signing The Giving Pledge. It is a campaign by some of the richest people in the world to contribute the majority of their wealth to charitable causes.
