New Delhi. Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on Tuesday launched an in-depth investigation to assess the dominance of Apple and Google web browsers. The CMA said there was sufficient support to continue the investigation it launched in June to investigate whether iPhone maker Apple bans cloud gaming through its App Store.

CMA interim chief executive Sarah Cardell said in a statement that many UK businesses and web developers say they are suffering significant losses due to the restrictions imposed by Apple and Google.

He further said that we are planning to investigate whether the complaints we are getting are genuine or not. If so, then the reasons have to be found and resolved. Along with this, competition and innovation in these areas have to be further improved. Explain that in the eyes of competition regulatory agencies in Brussels, London and many other places, the US giant tech company, which includes Google owner Alphabet and Apple.

Why is the investigation being done?
The CMA said last month that the Google Play Store would be investigated separately by anti-trust authorities in the EU and the UK. According to a report by TechCrunch, mobile device operating systems, app stores and web browsers can be tampered with by giant tech companies. Last year CMA did a market study in which it was found correct.

The CMA announced that the investigation would focus on the supply of mobile browsers and browser engines, as well as the distribution of cloud gaming services through app stores on mobile devices. The CMA announced in a press release the launch of an in-depth investigation into how Apple and Google “dominate the mobile browser market” and how Apple restricts cloud gaming through its App Store.
