Meta layoffs: Decree to be fired on maternity leave, something like this happened to Anika Patel

Because in recent times, both these social media platforms have shown thousands of their employees the way out of the company. Let us tell you that after taking over the command of Twitter, Elon Musk laid off 50 percent of the people, while Meta fired its 11,000 employees. This decision of the company has shocked many employees. One of them is Anika Patel, former communications manager of Facebook.

Anika Patel posted a post on LinkedIn in which she wrote, “This morning I learned that I am one of the 11,000 employees affected by the meta #layoffs. This impressed me a lot as I am currently on maternity leave.”

She said that she is very grateful to work in Meta, now a few months I will be able to comfortably spend time with my daughter Emilia and give her full time. After that I will do further planning regarding the job. Anika said that when I woke up at 3 o’clock in the night for my daughter, I was already anticipating Mark Zuckerberg’s email about the layoff. But at that time I did not get any such mail regarding this.

At 4:30 am I got a message from my manager that he has been fired. A colleague of mine said that the emails are being sent till 7 am, so I was wondering whether to go back to sleep or wait. Then at 5:35 a.m. I received an email that I had been included in the layoff. I felt very sad when I heard this.

Anika further said that I have been working with Facebook Groups for 2.5 years. This time was very good for me. I am very grateful to all the people with whom I have spent such a special time there. Anika said what next? It is very difficult for me to answer this at the moment. Currently my maternity leave is ending in February. I will give full time to my daughter for the next few months. I will think about the future in the new year.
