IRCTC arranges food in trains.
The Ministry of Railways has said that there will be no compromise on quality while changing the menu.
Neither the menu nor the price of Janata Bhojan will change.

New Delhi. Now passengers will get more tasty and nutritious food in trains. Along with this, more regional dishes will also be included in the menu of trains. The Railway Board has given permission to IRCTC to change the menu of trains. IRCTC will now be able to include local and regional cuisine as well as food items in the menu as per the requirements of diabetics, infants and other passenger groups.

The Ministry of Railways says that the purpose of giving menu exemption to IRCTC is to improve the catering services in trains and provide more options to the passengers. The ministry has said in one of its notes that by giving the option of customizing the menu, regional, seasonal and festive dishes will get a place in the menu of trains. The ministry said that IRCTC will not compromise on the quality of food while making changes in the menu.

The menu will be fixed within the tariff

For prepaid trains where catering charges are included in the passenger fare, the menu will be decided by IRCTC within the already notified tariff. Apart from this, a-la-carte food and branded food items will also be sold at MRP in these prepaid trains. The menu and cost of a-la-carte food will be decided by IRCTC.

public food will not change

For other Mail/Express trains, budget The menu for the segment will be fixed within the fixed price already notified by IRCTC. There will be no change in the menu and tariff of Janta Meals. Poori, vegetable, pickle tea are included in public food. Sale of a-la-carte food and branded food items will also be allowed in Mail/Express trains and the price will be decided by IRCTC.

The Ministry of Railways said that IRCTC will not compromise with the quality of food and service while making changes in the menu and will not sell substandard food items or use substandard brands. The menu will be as per the tariff and will be notified in advance for the information of the passengers.
