An actor has posted an advertisement on the hacking community forum.
In this, it has been claimed to sell the database of mobile numbers of the users.
This includes the numbers of US, UK, Egypt, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Indian users.

New Delhi. According to a report, phone numbers of about 50 crore (500 Million) WhatsApp users are being sold online. According to a report in CyberNews, an actor has posted an advertisement on a hacking community forum, claiming that he is selling a database of mobile numbers of 487 million WhatsApp users. The database includes mobile numbers of WhatsApp users from 84 different countries. These include US, UK, Egypt, Italy, Saudi Arabia and India.

Explain that most of the attackers use this information for phishing attacks. That’s why WhatsApp users have been advised to avoid calls and messages from unknown numbers.

The actor claims that the dataset has records of more than 32 million US users. Apart from this, it includes data of 45 million users in Egypt, 35 million in Italy, 29 million in Saudi Arabia, 20 million in France and 20 million in Turkey. The database reportedly contains the phone numbers of around 10 million Russians and over 11 million UK citizens.

The report claims that the threat actor is selling the US dataset for $7,000 (roughly Rs. 5,71,690), while the UK and Germany datasets are priced at $2,500 (roughly Rs. 2,04,175) and $2,000 (roughly Rs. 2,04,175), respectively. 1,63,340 approximately).

Number of active users of the platform
Explain that often large-scale data sets posted online are obtained by scraping in violation of WhatsApp terms of service. However, the actor claims that all the numbers belong to the active users of the Meta-owned platform. However, it is not yet known how he obtained the database. The actor says that he has used his own strategy to collect data.

By the way, this is not the first time that Meta and its platform are making headlines for data breach. Last year, a leakster made the information of more than 500 million Facebook users available online for free. The leaked data included phone numbers and other details.
