Waiting period of Maruti Suzuki cars will be reduced, company is going to increase production capacity

New Delhi. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) may increase the production capacity of its Manesar plant to one lakh units in view of the increasing demand, while the company’s Sonipat plant is expected to be commissioned in the year 2025. A senior official of the company gave this information. The company’s Gurugram plant manufactures vehicles like Ertiga, XL6 and Eeco, while the Manesar plant manufactures models like Alto, S-Presso, Celerio, Brezza and Dzire.

In view of the increasing demand for its vehicles, MSI may also consider increasing the production capacity at its manufacturing facility in Gurugram. At present, the total production capacity of the company including the plants of Manesar and Gurugram is 1.5 million units per annum. The Gujarat plant of partner company Suzuki Motor also produces 7.5 lakh units.

2.5 lakh cars to be made in just one plant
MSI has started work towards setting up its new plant at Kharkhoda, Sonepat in Haryana. The plant is expected to start operations by 2025 and will have a production capacity of 2.5 lakh units in the first phase. The company will invest Rs 11,000 crore in the first phase of this plant.

Rahul Bharti, executive director (company planning and government affairs), MSI, said in a discussion, “If needed, we will produce an additional one lakh units from the Manesar plant for some time to meet the demand.” That the capacity addition at Manesar plant can be done by April 2024 and after a year at Kharkhoda plant.

The company will launch new models
Earlier, Maruti Suzuki has planned a capital investment of more than Rs 7,000 crore this year. This includes the construction of a new plant in Haryana and the launch of new models. The country’s largest car company has started work on a new plant in Sonipat district. Presently Maruti Suzuki has two manufacturing plants in Haryana. Apart from this, the company also produces at Suzuki Motor’s plant in Gujarat. Its total production capacity is 22 lakh units per annum.
